The Institute of Complex Systems Research is an independent, privately funded, non-profit research center with the main focus in increasing the understanding of complexity science. Complexity arises in many different domains such as physics, biology, social and technological systems. The distinguishing factor is that such systems cannot be understood from the individual constituents parts, they show collective, emergent behavior that cannot be predicted from its parts.
